I'm a 41 year old single parent of four children. I started writing when I was in middle school, and have had spurts of writing over the years since. Some of the musical artists I like are The Doors, Eric Clapton, Garth Brooks, Elvis, Kris Kristofferson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Maroon 5, Rob Thomas, Ryan Adams, Simon & Garfunkel, Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Dylan, and CCR. You get the idea, wide variety. The biggest influence was my high school creative writing teacher who sent some of my work to a famous author in Ireland whose name I have forgotten. For I was too immature and young to take it seriously.

I noticed on your comment to gingerhall's 'I' that you are marcusmoore's mom. I'm so sorry for you. That kid's a pest. Just Kidding! He's a great guy. I've only been here a short time and he has not only made me feel welcome I consider him a new friend. We often read each others poetry although he usually outreads me and I end up oweing him reads as I do now. Well you must have done a great job raising him. Take care, I'll read ya around sometime.

I believe you have a gift for rhyming and seeing sharp and magnificent details, also the word arrangements in most of your work feel like songs. I can get the whole lyricist feel from your work, your a gifted writer, I think once you develop your form and technique you can become a very established poet or songwriter.

    hey der my boy

hey marcus, how ya been? I'm glad to see that you finally pulled this poem out of retirement haha, You know this has always been one of my favorites of yours, ever since you started writing poetry. I am very glad that you decided to post this one. And of course I hope that you can find this dream girl of yours and that she comes into your world and doesn't leave as soon as you awake, and if you believe in fate then it's meant to be. it will happen you just have to wait and take your time. Thanks for sharing this beautiful poem with everybody here. Glad to see that you're writing again, or at least posting poems, I have noticed that you had changed some parts of this poem from it's original to make it more original and not so much sing-song b/c if I remember correctly this was originally a song correct?? Thanks for sharing my love hehe. I hope to hear from you soon.

Well I must say that you have captured true love felt then abrubtly taken away most magnificantely! I hope this is not true life for you but just a write because the true pain of losing someone is sooooooo painful! I must say that you wrote it very well but I do not FEEL that this is a true experience for you. I do not mean in any shape or form that your writing is not intense by no means I am simply stating that I myself have written about actual things I have not personally experienced and I usually can tell by writers comments and the intensity of their poem whether it is personal or not. I would truly like it if you would be willing to share that with me. It makes no difference about the quality of your poem I am just interested in whether it is personal or not. I myself have a poem on this site which is totally fictional from a mans point of view from war which I have no first hand knowledge of obviosally but I wrote it anyway, because I FEEL that pain for some reason or another. I have been told that I have lived a past life as a man, now whwther you believe in such things is your opinion, but I am starting to actually believe it may be true, because I have been going over ALL my writing since high school and have realized that I ALWAYS write from a mans point of view. Freaks me out kinda. Please tell me what your thoughts are about all that, and maybe read my poem called SIMPLE THINGS and give me your opinion. Loved your poem, keep writing more! SHERRY
