I am a man of integrity. As such, I cannot do what I must not do. There can be no justification for any wrong actions taken at any point. And so it all comes down to choice, doesn't it? My continued choice to follow a path so narrow that one tiny slip can send me into oblivion, or to choose to give it all up and just let be what is... to become just like everyone else. I can't do this. I'm not arrogant, I am truly better than this. Not every person has the strength to give up...
Not every person has the strength to give up their desires. Not every person is willing to give up their desires. As much as I may not want to, I must. For not only is it within my power to do so, it is my responsibility to always take the high road.
Not everyone can join me on this path. And those that do often find that it is not something they can handle. Those who choose to stand by my side and walk with me are rare people indeed, and I applaud you for what you've chosen. From time to time, you may need to rest, but I will expect you to come back to what you chose. You must fight with me if we are to accomplish what we must. But fear not, I'll not allow you to fall.
Fight with me, and I'll not lead you to death. Fight beside me, and none can stand against us. Watch my back, and I will die for you. This is the reality of who I am. The warrior that I am.
If my writing slows down to maybe one poem a month, my apologies. I just recently felt my desire to write fade from my being. Perhaps it'll come back in time. If I want it to. For now, I may just take a quiet sabbatical away from poetry for a time, perhaps another few years while I work on my non-fiction books. Who knows?
At any rate, this isn't a rant, just some information for those who care...

PS I feel I should add that no good-bye is forever, and I will be around, though much less than normal. Also, within a short 7 years' time, I must rock the world of politics with a completely new way of looking at the world... Maybe, just maybe, I can get elected my first shot trying. Only time will tell

"The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly." ~ Jim Rohn The truest mark of leadership is not found in who will listen to you; rather it is found in who will follow you because of their trust in you. The truest mark of leadership is not found in who will listen to you; rather it is found in who will follow you because of their trust in you.
It is through the realities of life that one learns about either going with the flow, which is the easy way, or battling against the status quo. Having been in the military, I was often looked at as the insubordinate airman, when all I was wanting was a simple answer that no one wanted to give. I had no problems in fighting the powers that be, even though I was but a peon with no power to speak of. But I did have a voice, which has gotten only stronger since then. And my fight is still the same.
This isn’t to say that a leader will go against the grain, or will even challenge the perceived rights of the time, this is to say that a true leader won’t care whose toes are stepped on as he cares for those under his charge in wisdom and truth.
Wisdom and truth. These are forlorn words anymore with great meaning but seemingly little value in our current society, should one care to notice. Let’s start with truth, which should be synonymous with honesty. To know all the facts, to search the truth before passing judgment, to not keep anything from those in your care, this is what I mean when I speak of truth. In this is a word no one likes anymore… integrity. Integrity, in a nutshell, means doing the right thing/making the best choice at all times with what you’re given regardless of who’s watching or the situation. In other words, we must not be justifying an action simply because the situation allowed for us to take advantage of something we shouldn’t have. If there is question as to it’s being right or wrong, we shouldn’t do it.
As for wisdom, this is born of truth. It is often said that experience will lead to wisdom, but this is only true if the individual learns from said experience. The definition of a hypocrite is not merely saying one thing and doing another (this is the watered down and very misleading definition), but rather not learning from doing the one thing that shouldn’t have been done. There are consequences to every action taken, no matter the choice made, and for someone to not learn from having made the same mistake...

Okay, so the first link is to show a real situation with the actual cease and desist letter to my favorite site on the web (apologies to Allpoetry, as awesome as you are, you lack the all-encompassing awesome factor that thinkgeek has). You will laugh with that alone. The second link, however, is the official press release to this law firm and the National Pork Board (read if you wanna know) apologizing for the misunderstanding and if you weren't laughing already at the first link, you will...

Unless, of course, you lack any real ironic bone in your body and find sarcastic irony to be too far above your head. Us geeks thrive on such.
enjoy this and pass it on, it is absolutely hilarious and goes to show the mentality of companies and their so-called "intellectual property" rights that so many seem to be so hell-bent on infringing upon without any consideration for whose mind we're thefting it from. Being on a poetry site, plaigarism is obviously a concern here, but in this case, come on, I mean, seriously? Can you really be that naive, ignorant and stupid? Yup, I guess they can...

Brokenness
The brokenness in this piece lends itself to be cried over, a sharp, searing pain so recent that we still cower in the corner afraid of our own shadows. Fears that once consumed us were washed away with this person and now return with force, bringing with it a sense of total loss and hopelessness... This is beautifully written and simple in text, very easy to understand and to feel what you feel. Great writing.Robert
