Whispers From the Grave

Hidden within the folds of time,
spirits of the fallen continue to wander.
Confined to a world now vanished from memory.
Seeking those they left behind, longing for what was.
Drawn to whispers of a time long passed.
Lingering in places they once dwelled.
They are but whispers from the grave.
Beseeching and forlorn, they despair.
Sensing they do not belong - unable to move on.
Drifting aimlessly through shadows, always unseen.
A wisp of icy air, the only clue they were there.
Endlessly searching, always pleading.
Their wretched souls, do not know their time has gone.
Forever lost and forgotten.
They are but whispers from the grave.
Left to roam through darkened corners of
what is no longer their home.
Listen carefully, one might hear, the
soft whimpers of a woman, long since dead or
the sobs of a child lost.
The trained eye may catch a glimpse, of
the shattered lives
of those who whisper from the grave.
