Daddy's & His Baby Girl

Holding hands the little girl smiles
looking up at her daddy, her hero.
He scares the monster's away,
he makes all the boo boo's better with a kiss,
and takes her on trips to the zoo.
Daddy likes to go fishing but
she instead picks flowers for him
then he helps her feed the ducks.
As years pass the little girl
who used to cuddle in daddy's lap
turns into a teenager.

As toys and dolls soon get replaced
by make-up and purses there's
not much need for daddy now.
All he does is get into her business.
Gentle talks turn into yelling fights
over grades, boys, and dancing.
They can't seem to agree on much anymore.

But as she matures her secret
admiration for daddy grows.
No longer stupid is he, now she sees him
as someone who's smart and wise.
Now a lady they sit and talk of wordly events.

Like all young ladies though
daddy's companionship is soon replaced by a boy.
A boy whom he shall have to surrender his baby girl to.
His little girl is all grown up
and looking beautiful as he walks
her down the aisle, tears in both
his and his daughter's eyes as they hug
remembering when he was her whole world
and she his little baby girl.
