I read four poetry books today
To get some inspiration
All I found from this was just
A lack of imagination
The fact that I am brainless
a source of constant irritation
The act of writing poetry
Causes many, agitation
My attempts at writing sonnets
Is an act of mutilation
Free verse sounded easy
But just turned out like narration.
And whilst most other poets write
Of blood or fornication
I would myself, but find I lack
That kind of stimulation
I'm really not so interested
in Ego Masturbation
With work like this there's room to
doubt my formal education
With deadlines due and empty books
There’s a slight desperation
I’ll have to start creating words
Like pluff or bobulation
And though my muse just sneers and pouts
And mocks my formulations
I’ll go and write some epic verse
whilst sitting at the bus stop.
Please tell me what you think

i find this very original and fresh. you have made me realize just how many -ation words there are! my favorite part was the one about how your free verse turned out to be narration because i often find that my poetry has turned into narration, so i can relate very much. good work.

Heheehehe, A great way of describing the gift, yet the frustration. I loved the flow to it and your wording.:-)

Approbation - with reservations after cogitation...
Irritation repeats too quickly - which is irritating! Otherwise it flows pretty well and has a pleasantly entertaining feel to it. It's not really poetry though, Spectre and if you put it in your portfolio they'll know you're 'packing'! Given the title and the humorous tone, I think you need to pack in a few more ations, and work them a little harder if you're going to impress and get a whole hearted laugh here. A visit to the thesaurus perhaps? I'd like to express some tripidation about any perceived denegration of this fabrication and my exhortation for moderation in your contemplations of my ruminations. Felicitations. >W<
