Am no Spring!

Hey open the door!
It’s me Ms. Winter.
won’t you?
Unlucky me –
I am not welcomed
I am not fêted
I am not famous
I am for Age
I am for Illness and
alas! I am no spring.

I stayed enough
to get your love;
I snowed enough to
cool you down;
never have I got
your lovely smile!

Hey shall I move?
Here is my Bye -
oh! smile in your eyes,
green in the trees -

I will help you sing
More about your spring
that has new things to bring!

Please tell me what you think

    Hi, Kiddy. I felt this poem appeal to me a lot - how the poet personifies herself as Winter's coming, bringing years of human age with her, and erasing so many warm loves of greener times. BUT, Winter eventually "brings (her) Bye..." and makes room in the poet's heart for Spring "that has new things to bring!"

    What a wonderfully hopeful poem this is, Kiddy. As you and I both winterly "age", we can't let it beat us down; we simply wait for "green in the trees."

    Really good write, and a thoughtful read for me.

    Lad

      Lad...

      Immensely pleased to receive your comment. I had been contemplating over this idea for long time since my college days… I was inspired lately by Shelley’s ‘Ode to West Wind’, disturbed by the truth a little, then I wrote this poem.
      Thank you Lad
      Love
      Kiddy

    I have to say, while I understand the point of the piece, winter is my favorite season. As much as I love the "green trees" we so eagerly await, I love stomping through mounds of snow and the brisk walks I take during winter so much more.
    A lovely poem, I really enjoyed this, keep up the good work.
