Our Bush who is artless in the White House
How lowly is your name?
Your will is done,
Sending souls to kingdom come,
While you're number one
On Earth at this moment in time.
For yours is the power
Unfortunately not the glory.
Please tell me what you think

For me, Frank...
...this is a scabrous play on the Lord's Prayer, and I love every twist of it. It only goes to show how eternally right the original is, and how infernally wrong the subject of your poem is. I couldn't agree more with its sly sentiments. Every line of it neatly contradicts Christ's teaching in the Gospel about how to really pray, with humility and forgiveness - from 'artless' to 'lowly' to 'kingdom come' to 'number one / on Earth at his moment in time' to "unfortunately not the glory.' For my enjoyment (along with plenty of sadness about the current state of 'the kingdom'), the poem is a sly delight. Nice job, Frank.

Plaudit to thee Lad
Thanks Lad for being first/only commenter on Not A Prayer my subversion of the Lord's Prayer. I commend your use of the charming word scabrous and being so nice about this generally. Frank
