Minute Details of Life....Seldom Realised

How many of you have noticed the small wild flower
Springing up between the wildest plant in the most unusual place?

How many of you have paused to admire
The wondrous glow of the evening or morning sky(it is Gods own painting!)?

How many of you have stood still
To hear the pitter patter of the rain drops on the window?

How many of you have laid down on your terrace
On a cloudless night and gazed back at the stars wondering what name God gave to each star?

How many of you have tried to concentrate
On the passing clouds and just make a wild guess as to what shape it resembles?

How many of you have appreciated
The intricate and meticulous design of a spider web?

How many of you have looked over the mountain to wonder
About only those little patches on the valley that was lit up by the sun while the other areas were darkened by shadow?

How many of you have ever admired
The beauty in blue stretched out as the mighty ocean in front of your eyes?

How many of you have ever noticed
The tiny little bird hopping across your garden with pure joy on its innocent looking face?

How many of you have ever looked out of a window and spotted
A wrinkled tree, bent by age but proudly reflecting the very many winds it might have withstood?

How many of you have ever peered
At your own shadow and reflected on "What if God just did not think about creating shadows??"

How many of you have squinted at the moon and wondered
Who is holding that giant mass of body up there?

How many of you have stooped down
To admire the beauty of a fallen leaf?

How many of you have held up your face against the wind
To feel its soothing effect as it ruffled your hair?

How many of you have ever observed the trail
Of a butterfly or bee that is dedicated on collecting honey?

How many of you have ever smiled
At someone who looked lonely?

How many of you have sat still in solitude at least for 5 minutes,
looked up at the sky and smiled while trying to comprehend how great and awesome GOD is?

    Always

I am amazed at the natural beauty that sorrounds me on a daily basis. However, I presently live in a very ugly place(the desert) and have to look much harder than I did back home. But it's still there. One of my favorite things in the world was to steal into the woods at the dark of early morning, find a hidden place and sit motionless for hours as the forest both retires from a long night of hunting or awakens to a new day of foraging. It is amazing what you can see when you sit out of sight and upwind. Animals come within inches almost and it is always an incredible experience for me. Such times do leave me in awe. So yeah...I feel you.

I really enjoyed this. A straightforward, simple poem that embraces all of the simple things in life that await to give joy should we but pause to look and see. Nice work.

    It's an appealingly simple compilation...

...of beautiful things in the world that, sadly, are often ignored. I like this list of questions and thoughts about pleasant phenomena, because I can sometimes get so wrapped up in this world's horrors and its spoiling of this fragile planet. So, your piece serves as a reminder for me - it's not ALL bad.
    Thanks for this meditation, elydia.

Thanks for the write and me able to be reading it. It may be the small things, but in the end it makes a big impression on one. It is sad that in a 'rushing' world that we forget the smaller things...do not take notice of them...and even worse, one cannot even remember when last one has take time... Yes, I did enjoy reading it, and it provides a challenge. Thank you.
