Oblivion

A lament for those long gone
names forgotten throughout the centuries
mournful songs for the ones who left
faces that faded with the years.

The mind weak,weaker it gets
unable to hold the memories
Only the heart clutches to the feelings
remembering the tears shed, the laughs shared.

Death,the eternal sleep,comes soon
it only brings peace and banishes fear
yet oblivion,sweet oblivion of mists
strikes hard upon the dead.

Hasn't oblivion clouded our eyes?
wonder not why you cannot see
The promise to remember is broken
and it's too late to recall.

Alas,for those who wonder cursed
amidst the darkness of the night
they only live in scattered memories
their body lies in a stone tomb.

Author notes

It is a poem about oblivion and for all those that were forgotten after they died.Sometimes oblivion sooths the pain but for others it is merely a curse.
