I hate dreams.

I hate dreams,
for when I awaken
I know that all that conspired
was all an impossibility

And it saddens me for this particular dream
t'was the best one i've had
and it left me depressed
how it can never be

I can mope, I can whine
about how much fun it was
I sat with you
and you were in love with me

and as I awaken, the memories fade
I somewhat want them to go
but my heart scratches madly to get them back
back they go, a fading beacon of hope

so I weep, pull myself together
get on with my day
with but one image in my mind
Sitting with you, in a realm of impossibility

Author notes

I awoke this morning from a dream. It left me sad ^_^

Please tell me what you think

I admire the way how you brought the truth out of it.

    Wow

'I sat with you, and you were in love with me'

I've had this dream before a million times and everytime I wake up I do the same thing, I cry about it.

I love how you captured it.

Glad you write this. Thank You.

    xoxo

I'm not a fan of dreaming lol only cause most of the time I dream of all the stuff I don't want to dream about lol
This had good imagery and levels of emotion

    awwwwww! I luv it!

It's cute in a sad and hopeless way. Now that's my kind of poem! XP
But it is very cool! I must agree, dreams can be a pain sometimes and not just those in which come while we sleep.

    Very nice!

Dreams can be so depressing, can't they? You're having a great time with the perfect person, they love you back, you are having a good hair day and weigh 10 pounds less, when suddenly the freakin' alarm clock goes off and you awake to the smell of your bed-mate's sour breath and the monumentous task of making coffee. "They" say that dreams are just the purging of our subconcious, all our brain junk from the past few days emptying out in a nonsensical stream. I just can't believe that could be true, as the most wonderful (and terrible) things happen in our dreams...are they not experiences as well?

    "the memories fade
I somewhat want them to go
but my heart scratches madly to get them back"

I loved the heart scratching madly imagery....rather like a dog trying to get under a fence or scratching at the door in urgency to be let outside.

An art teacher I knew required her students to keep a "dream diary" on the nightstand. The idea being that when you suddenly awaken from your dream you can put in all down in words/pictures before the experience leaves you. I found it to be an excellent exercise for trying to figure myself out a bit.

    Thanks for sharing!
