The Face Of The Earth

The eyes of the Earth
watch the actions of men
making mistakes
again and again.
They see all the starving,
disease and dismay
and the idols of greed
to which people pray.

The ears of the Earth
hear the cries of the torn,
the widows and orphans
by wars made forlorn,
the blast of the guns
used to decimate life,
the pain and the anguish
that cuts like a knife.

The lips of the Earth
twitch with words, though unsaid,
which echo and echo
around in its head;
words filled with warning
going unheeded,
mankind is ignoring
the change that is needed

The face of the Earth,
although showing the strain
enduring man's cruelness
again and again,
knows that its Owner
sees all from above,
that he can and he will
replace cruelty with love.
