Ode to Housework

Dirty dishes
Messy rooms
Crusty forks
Spotty spoons

Cleaning baby puke
Washing Junior's bloodstain
Dirt I forever rebuke
Oh yeah, this is a great use of my brain.

The battle against dirt will never be won.
Why read? There's housework to be done!

I live for the two minutes the house is completely clean.
Quick! Take a picture! Soon pristine it won't be seen!

Yes, I know housework is sometimes a futile waste of time
Forever cleaning after kids and men
It will only get dirty again
This pointlessness is fine!

Cleaning over and over again
is like getting buried in an endless crater.
I take a break now and then,
I'm a Mom. I love pointless labor.

Keeping the house clean to please my spouce
In a sea of detergents I drown
I would love to pour gas over the house
and burn that **********er to the ground!

Author notes

I hate housework! I'm not married with kids, but I've heard women who are complain enough that it never gets done. I hope this summerizes what some of them must feel.

What do I need to improve? Imagery? Rhyming scheme? How can I make this more "poetic?"
