tame a slack-line strung between trees
stutter-step a balance-beam
catwalk the tightrope connecting seas
un-string my calendar's scheduled screams
push off-track my pin-wheeled rat
bust the bulb inside a lamp
leap into a theater's screen
swoon the damsel in my dreams
rub the bottle and make my wish
tell the genie, "turn me a fish!"
swim the waters to the ocean's floor
whistle to whales, race snails
float the maelstrom's circular rush
fight its might, holler a gale
become a kite and catch the wind
unwind the line that reeled me in
cut the cord
soar above the tallest mount
all about and up and up
until i've tour'd the blue/white globe
behold! the marble beneath my wings
then pick it up and roll it 'round
thanking God for the excite
of such an out-of-earthly flight
free to fly as Kitemaster.

Welcome back, Pap. In my opinion, you've written and posted one of your best imaginative and free-flying poems so far. This one swings, line after line; it swoops and careens with all the "excite" of escape from the humdrum, especially the "calendar's scheduled screams" - I know the feeling, and you've kited it all up with some bright images here.
The other feeling I get from it is: break out of, break into, break up old ways, break loose from "the cord" and soar - everyman's dream of escape, like a kite set free before he eventually has to land with gratitude to God for such a blisteringly breaktaking climb.
Nice work all the way, with some amazingly energetic and original images. Talk about talent...disciplined yet free. I was looking for clumsies to suggest changes on, but found none. Every word and line works, at least for me.
Later...

PS: If you haven't yet read Hosseini's "The Kite Runner" - Pulitzer Prize in '06 - I think you'd like it, in the light of this poem. -

thanx, indeed & also
Lad,
thanx for the comment. this poem is really random. glad you liked it. i keep my disclaimers to myself.
anyhow, i've heard that "The Kite Runner" is a great novel. i want and intend to read it. your endorsement will probably make me get around to it sooner.
also, i recently made a short film for a film contest here on campus, and once i find a way to upload it onto the Internet from my Mac, i'll send you the link.

Spinning around and around...
What a wonderful poem! I feel like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole in one of Lewis Carroll's stories while reading this one. Each line gives a new twist of imagination that draws the reader ever further into the rabbit hole.
Terrific write Papyrus! I really enjoyed it
