sputter

forefinger/thumb bend back lever
aluminum twists in instant of give
metal mouth shouts a crisp metal “POP!”

one a.m. - i need this

adrenaline reservoir
I consume you
guzzle you down with fist-clenched fission
caffeine, flood intravenous bloodways
drown out drowsy cells’ bleating
supercharge fix!

-es everything

pump me up, set me down
upright
beneath yellowed moonlight
tonight, sleep struggles under jittery feet
a buoyed pool toy forced below water
erect in chair
i stare -
a white Word document struts purity at haughty eyes
begs defilement
fingers trepid at the touch
of my keyboard

melodic iTunes trance my focus

the six page paper predicament -
shrugged off shoulders, foldered through Spring Break
Professor's given me well over a week now
tomorrow's deadline.
