Be strong for me.
Ha!
What a joke.
A lie, a lie.
Don't cry to me.
Why ask of my problems?
I won't tell you,
There's only so much you can pry.
I'll lock into my room,
Turn the music on.
I can drown you out.
It's rather easy now.
All it takes is music, a book, a phone.
My friends know more than that of which you imagine!
It's truth, really.
You never listen when I want it.
I shut you out in return.
You only care when you want to.
By then you've missed the window
In which I would cooperate.
That's your mistake.
You don't realize.
And out come your tears,
Meant to cause me guilt.
But, though you don't see,
I laugh with contempt.
And leave you there,
Be strong for yourself.
I care too little to help.
Author notes
This is adressed to my mom. It sounds like I'm horrible. I am. These are some of my frustrations with her. I don't care, it's what I feel. She has no idea.
I know this isn't great, but I thought it was alright compared to others I've written in anger. ??

I know you say this is an angry poem, but I think you handled that anger with restraint. Sometimes when people write angry poems, they a.) swear too much and b.) use too many exclamation marks, which makes reading such a poem quite embarrassing. But the swearing is absent here and you only used one exclamation mark, so it's OK.
Your frustration comes through clearly. I can relate to it in the sense that most teenagers can, in that at some point we all feel extremely misunderstood, especially by our family, whom we expect to understand us most of all. When they don't, it's very disappointing - but hey! They're only human too, right?
I am impressed with your writing. I think you show great potential. It displays a certain clarity of thought which most other people your age distinctly lack. Spelling and punctuation are great, too, and the poem is well-structured. If you wanted some advice, then I would recommend that you use more imagery and metaphorical language, as it stimulates the imagination and 'draws the reader in'.
Definitely keep it up. Like I said, you have potential.
Sam
