Two Swords

The two swords of Peter hung
beside the golden lamp
and I wondered at the significance of blades
and bibles and blood

that seeped between the cracks
of the cutting board. The chicken carcass
twitched under the knife
as if remembering to breathe.

    Sword and Chalice?

    Hi Nocturne. Nicely worded imagery thats both grotesque and appealing - a fitting dichotomy for what I read as a subconscious reflection of biblical brutality and a conflict of opposites - self-justifying murderer and struggling victim.
