Little Girl

Little girl sitting on the swing sobbing
She wanted red ballet shoes
and her dear little mama
got her a card instead

She stormed out her little house
screaming at her little mama
" I don't like you
and your card, i do hate!"

I swing beside her and tell
of the little Malawi girl
lying in an overfilled ward
begging for another day

Orphaned and crying
to her little grandma
to free her from pain
and tell her dark angel
to go away

So,
Little girl sitting on the swing sobbing
run home now, for your little mama
gives you what you need---
another day
to blow the candles
on your little red
birthday cake.
