there is only passion
there is only passion
i tell myself repeatedly
as i riddle myself with my dailies:
my dead end job
my mediocrity
dangling by the cliff
of a wasted life.
i have become my litany
of weightless professions
and mouthed realizations.
like words jumping off a comic bubble
never enough to make them real
never enough to fire a life.
there is only passion
there is only passion
waking every morning
to the same mantra
repeated at every brush stroke
at every spoonful
at every step
on the way
my own little quotable quote
staring flat from a sticky note
a mere intellectual possession
that sinks as deep as the epidermis
and slides off like dead skin cells
never enough to make them real
never enough to fire a life
there is only passion
there is only passion
and i have none
none
not

peaks and valleys...
Iphios,
"there is only passion, there is only passion," sounds like some nagging mother of stale sermon. ughhhh (spine chill)...
in any case, i hope you find joy in SOMETHING. what could you do to stir-up the mediocrity and steer away from a dead-end job so that you feel your life isn't so wasted? hmmm. let's re-evaluate your options. what are you holding onto that really isn't the end of the world to let go of? what could you change? at any rate, if your life is in-line with this poem, then you probably can't do any worse than you already are if you take a chance and utterly fail. life can only improve now that you're at the bottom.
best,
Pap

Hey Pap,
thanks for the read and comment. The poem reflects a 'rut' period. It speaks of the sudden realization that one has no passion. The poem DOES reflect a period in my life when the passion i thought i had faded away. JOY...i do hope to find it in something at sometime...
