holy man

i hiked through
hidden valley today
fairytale green meadows
and what looked like cedar trees
peeling narled bark boardering
our passage along the right side
and in the middle i sat
in the shade of some other trees
with the chaplain who preaches
about abstenence and pornogrophy
and i wanted to scream at him
but thought better
to teach him how to properly open
a bag of tuna
with my steel blade buck knife
and mix in the mayo and pickle relish
until we hiked on to window rock
and looked through nature's stone
carved window frame peering out at the east side
of philmont's lesser mountains with hushed wispers
and he wanted to set his tent there
so i taught him the four w's of tent set up
and we hiked on his heavy breathing
behind me slowing my pace to a frightful tepid meander
until i left him at the bottom of some switchbacks
and ran for the turnaround
