Publishing Blues

English professors want lyrical ballads.
Zines want bombastic bitching.
The Avant Gaurd wants word salad,
but all editors say my work needs fixing.

To literary frustration I am resigned,
and it makes me wanna cuss.
If I write ever-so-clever lines,
will you publish my erudite opus?

Author notes

What are your publishing woes? Anyone got any publishing stories they'd like to share? Is it really that hard to get your poetry published?

How is the rhyming scheme on this poem? What can I improve?

    lol hilarious.

I have not tried to get my poetry published yet but I am in progress of publishing my first children's book and yeah what a mess. Luckily its not my opus or I would have a lot more emotional investment.

You have a lot of talent I hope everything works out for you.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked this. Are you published, too? Are you submitting? If so, how's that going?

No, not yet, because I am just writing poetry for fun right now, but who knows, I might!

    hey lady J

i liked the light-heartedness of this so i'd change the last line, i associate erudite which kind of high-brow and snotty which this isnt and your not.

as for publishing i think its simple keep writing and submitting.

      Thank you!
Sorry it took so long for me to reply. I didn't see your comment until late October.
      Thanks for commenting.
It seems I can't do anything deep or erudite, so I'll stick with slapstick silliness.
