I Am But Air

im no longer solid like you
im mere gas, chased away in the air
but the molecules that loosely
ties us together
spaces that make no reference
to who we are---
just particles
moving across the universe
of a thousand time larger than us
we oscillates in the light
dancing but never touching
as who you are restricts you
to shape
to ground
to limits
while i move freely and bounded
without you
less, you turn into me
or i turn into you
we can never be the same
matter.

you living
i but air
you breathing
i but air

i let you take me in
as your lungs expand
as your soul seek mine
i beg the wind for me
to be that oxygen
the fills you,
but the universe---
a thousand time larger
breaks me into pieces
and all i can give you
is pieces
'til i turn into you
or you turn into me
we can never be the same
matter.

i air
you but life
i air
you but breath

i watch as your tears hit the ground
i feel it squeeze its way into the depths
pass the glass and into my lips
i taste, but wish
i could marry you with saltine drops
away from this tragedy
i've haphazardly designed
for we are two matters
in this universe a thousand time larger
and we can never occupy the same space
less, i become you
and you become me
until then
i lay a piece of me below ground
as the rest of me
seeks its way as air
to your fragile heart.
