Hopscotch and Fairy Wings

A toddler girl sits on the sidewalk,
and she plays-
she draws flowers with her chalk,
and reminds me of my childhood days.

When did we stop playing with toy cars,
and start driving real ones?,
When did we stop reaching for the stars,
and trade hopscotch for long treadmill runs?

At what age did we stop chasing fireflies
and things?,
When did we start telling lies
and take off our fairy-wings?

We did we stop watching the clouds float by,
and coloring on the walls?
When did we stop asking the question why,
and stop giving Grandma daily phone calls?

When did we stop making precious little bouquets,
when did we stop inventing fake words?
When did we stop creating little plays,
and stop fighting with plastic swords?

What happened to our princess costumes,
and our fake high heels?,
Our bright pink bedrooms,
and our peanut butter jelly meals?

When did we stop flying Barbie kites,
and playing make believe?
When did we start having fights,
when did our childhood leave?

The little girl gets her chalk all ready,
and she slowly writes her name,
holding the chalk so still and steady,
then when its done she feels like fame.

This is cute, though. . .yeah, I'm pretty sure I still do some of those things! >.<

ANYHWO, this is a bit of a stretch, with so many stanzas "when did we stop doing this and started doing that", but in the end, it works out. Yeah, makes ya kind of think about things, getting old that is.

    Nicely done,
