Nature's Lullaby

A long day gone past
I wait for sleep
to claim me.
Yet my restless mind
does not grant me that privilege.

I stare at the
ceiling above me
as I hear the gentle sound
of the raindrops
against my roof.

My eyes are heavy now.
I feel them close
and I smile in contentment.

The soft rumbling
of the skies
like a faded memory
ring at the back of my mind.

I sigh
as Nature's lullaby
wins me over,
and I let
the black oblivion of sleep
overtake me.

    Nicely done.

Totaly different storm from the one that blew into the place I was hiding. The thunderstorm you've described definitly sounds peaceful. I've seen my share of those as well. Unfortunately I've seen many that weren't.
