a hammer punching
an empty chamber
the thrill of the danger
one more spin

the low spark
of high charge
grounding
cordite in the air
like sin

the strange
exchange
of energies
between two separate
beings who suddenly
realize

a moment in time
frozen
by the camera shutter
he stares enthralled
by the flash
from her eyes

the latch lifted
the creak of the hall door
coats discarded on the floor
beneath a coat rack

the door closes
