Estranged

This was just written, like literally a second ago. It's based on the fact that a lot of people say I drink too much, and I suppose its a slightly whimsical response to it?

Estranged

It’s like waking up, and putting the alarm on snooze,
It’s like taking the bus when it’s raining,
It’s like getting ready, with your hair being cool with minimal work
It’s like going out at the last minute, when a night was going to be spent in
It’s like finding a tenner in your jeans before you put them in the wash
It’s like seeing them smile back at you as you walk past
It’s like the first cup of tea in the morning
It’s like finding the perfect song to reflect your mood
It’s like having your clothes freshly washed and warm when you put them on
It’s having that drink you perhaps shouldn’t,
Because you hope it might make you feel a little better,
And you can escape the fact that:
You overslept, and got stuck in the rain,
Your hair took ages, and you were home alone last week
You left £15 in the Tesco self service machine, and she didn’t smile back
You forgot your cup of tea, and the songs on the radio are shit
Your t-shirt has beer down the front

What do you think?

Good one! I love how the beginning is romanticized but you don't realize that until the last stanza~ brilliant!

you know honestly i've never had a drop to drink in my life. never really even felt the urge to until the past few months. i don't there's something romantic about the idea of being drunk and forgetting the things that plague me constantly. i started thinking what if i could forget even for a second, what if it could make me pass out and let me sleep for once, what if it let me loosen up enough to be myself again. this girl i love keeps telling me she thinks i'll become an alcoholic, maybe i believe her. so i won't drink until she pours me a glass. you can depend on yourself if you believe, don't let the liquid be your courage
