the silence is where the beats skipped by my heart sleep together it is where words unspoken bide their time it is the lightning chained charged and ready to strike it gathers like rainclouds the silence is a distance it lies between you and I it is how far we have to fall it is great and it is nothing at all the silence is beauty and danger compressed it is what we make it a sentinel a harbinger it has power and depth but just one word will break it . |

Hi Ku!
It's a funny thing but I was only thinking about you, Little One. How are you? The place has changed a lot since you last stopped by and there seem to be very few of the 'old guard' left. But at least ol' Windy is still about to field some compliments from the bold Ketura. Nice to see your face on my space! Hugs >W<

This poem is simply awesome and points out what can give a world of peace and inner tranquil to us. I wrote a poem "The sound of Silence" and although the two poems are completely in a different style, they carry the same message and wisdom. Silence is listening into yourself, being aware of divine guidance in life, feeling the Yin and Yang the balance between mind, heart and soul.
I simply love this your poem, thank you for sharing, it is a precious write, I bow my head.

Intrinsic intelligence I will call it..I liked the way you twitched in silence with the skip of the heart beat..I am more than moved for it ran a deep reminiscene in me pondering on the silence and the sound in contrast...I loved the concluding lines where in you delineate its beauty of strength and intensity..I couldnt stop reading your lines over and over esp
"it is where
words unspoken
bide their time
it is the lightning
chained
charged and ready
to strike
it gathers like
rainclouds
the silence is a distance
it lies
between you and I
it is how far
we have to fall
it is great
and it is nothing at all
Silence to some is an indication of indignation and yet to some with high energies the way out to enlightement...Loved your interpretation..very natural and romantic expression..I more than identify and agree with your thoughts that seems so true and divine..Keep writing more

Nice Compliment.
Hi Rhythm and thanks for reading this. Intrinsic intellegence is a lovely phrase but it makes it sound like the poem was written by someone else! If you really read any of it more than once you couldn't pay it a nicer compliment. Thank you. >W< -

Well this is all I think it is, read it once or how many times evermore...You accept it or not, the option is yours..Thanks

Hey Professor, 'The Silence' was just a title, not a suggestion - but thanks for the comment and for shutting the **** up! Ha Ha. >W<

Hi John!
You could also call this "Potential Energy," because that is what I think of when I read this. Every absence implies a presence and every presence an absence. The tension of the unspoken, of the action not taken, Sisyphus when his stone is just about there. The defining comes not only in the doing, the speaking, but in the pregnant moment just before.
I like this quite a bit. It is, as I read it, a love poem, a poem of yearning and unsatisfied passion; but it is also very rich with existential themes, of being and becoming and of the anxiety that comes just before the moment. Good to read you again. -

Spot on
Hi Bill and good to have you read me again. 'Potential' is indeed a word I toyed with as a title and your interpretation is spot on here. It's good to be 'got'. Thank you John

This is exceptional, silence is "great and it is nothing at all" that just about sums it up for me,some people need it more than others, some never get it,some have too much of it,it can drive you crazy or it can keep you sane.
Outstanding poem, you display a great understanding of the topic, the first stanza is my favourite
(I had to look up harbinger)
bye

Pregnant variety
Hey R. The sort of silence this is about is probably best known as a pregnant silence. Billbrando rightly identified 'potential energy' as what I was digging for here. Ever known a woman wanted you to kiss her because things went quiet? Then again, in a survey, forty percent of men, asked what they liked best about blow jobs, replied 'the five minutes of quiet'. Jeez I hope my wife doesn't read this! Cheers. >W<
