I Dreamed of Painting

I dreamed of painting
a vision of beauty
I created movement
with each well placed
stroke of my brush
The tip of my paintbrush
danced upon the canvass
Traced the voluptuous curves
the soft bends and
slight sharp angles
Using vibrant colors
I skillfully painted
every inch of the canvas
Layer upon layer
I place upon
the masterpiece
before me
I deftly created peaks
I expertly outlined
each valley
I was consumed
with such passion
I did not cease my painting
till all my paint was upon
the canvas before me
I marveled at the beauty
I envisioned
My painting was abstract
yet I beheld
the vision of a goddess
I stood in awe
unable to imagine
How I had been
graced with the
abilty to paint
something so
beautiful

I think we all have an innate need to show ourselves through some form of art. Whether this dream of yours was a reality or not, what was created here is definitely beautiful and alluring. Tugs at my own need to create and feel inspired. Very nice!

You know something Brian? You did paint that as true as if you held the brush. Sometimes the skill asserts itself in different ways we choose for ourselves...but it's all still there, as real as if you painted it yourself.

The painting is so very beautiful, friend. I am sure you have dipped the brush in your own soul to create the masterpiece, no matter you dreamed of painting. Great job.

    thanks BB

you painted with your words! You could really imagine this person, really see them coloring a canvas and it was pretty brilliant.

This poem about painting paints a wonderful picture in my mind's eye =] I could see everything- every stroke of the brush, every mountain peak, each valley. Beautiful =]
Line 7: is canvass supposed to be canvas?

      Thank you,

for commenting on this one. I truly enjoyed writing it. I too could imagine laying the brush to this canvas every time, for every delicate stroke. I've never done a painting like this but I would absolutely love to. Thanks for pointing out the spelling error. I'd already been told that by Rhetorica but I missed the second one. Thanks again.

I really, really liked this one. I loved the images and the language in this. It's fantastic, Brian.
There's just one part where the language seems a bit stiff:
    "I did cease my painting
till all my paint was upon
    the canvass before me"
Also, I think you meant to put a "not" in there.
    I really, really like it.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I apprecitate you not only taking the time to give me a rea but also for taking the time to give me a kind and helpful comment. It wasn't a bit off. It was way off. One word can make all the difference and I'm glad you pointed out that I had missed the word not. That had changed my meaning completely. Thanks again.

Wouldn`t it be wonderful if we could paint a masterpiece rather than just dream about it!!
nice imagery,i almost want to see the woman you painted in your dream.
One small but important spelling error, its canvas not canvass(unless you intend running for city council,im sure you would get the votes too as you are quite rightly very popular)

    See you later my friend

Indeed it would be truly wonderful. I have sketched a beautiful woman but never painted one. I wish you could see her my friend. She was very beautiful when I had finished. Any spelling error is important and I appreciate you pointing it out. I do not intend to run for anything, however it is nice to know that I would have your vote. Thanks for that vote of confidence as well.

    A True Artist

Well Brian as always your writings blow me away, you have captured the absolute compassion that consumes artist when they pain, the awe and utter bewilderment of what they are painting. I must say this is my favorites, I know many artists and what you have written here is truly what happens in their creative process. Having said that poetry can be much the same as painting each word is a different color in which paint onto a canvas. You have indeed gone for something different and its absolutely sensational!!!

      Thank You Very Much.

I appreciate you not only reading but also leaving such thoughtful comments. I've scetched quite a bit but I've never really painted a master piece the way I described. I'm glad you felt I captured the passion consumes an artist when creating. That was the very thing I was going for. It's nice to know that you felt I succeeded. I agree that writing poety often has the same feel to it. Though I usually write on light hearted mattters I am sometimes comsumed while writing. I truly appreciate your wonderfully kind words. Thank you once again.

    Great job

I have zero artistic talent I would consider this a sort of vicarious experience piece. Allowing me to get into that mind set. Great job. Your right it is off your normal beaten path but you always do a decent job of trail blazing.

      Thank You

I have a limited amount. I scetch from time to time. I like landscapes and I've done portraits as well as a few other things. I used to scetch a lot of abstract things when I was younger. I've never painted anything the way I've described. I think it would be a wonderful experience. I think if you got started on a painting like this you would truly enjoy it. Thanks for the compliments.

I simply put myself into the frame of mind of a painter and spoke as I felt an artist would feel about painting a beautiful masterpeice. I too could imagine every stroke of the brush. Thank you again.

I'm very glad you enjoyed this. It was again breaking my usual rhyme and rhythm style so hearing you loved it makes me very happy. I've never really painted a masterpeice like this but I've always wished I could. Thanks again.
