You're really dry
like my lips in the winter.
Those kids who pretend to love classic rock
wear their fathers' concert t-shirts
listening to scratchy records but
our broken record player
is somewhere in the basement.
I don't miss that music.
I can beat all of the
wealthy boys playing lacrosse in the park
with my shirt on and
without an audience but
they like for girls to watch, not win.
And just because I don't drink coffee
and I don't smoke cigarettes
and it never snows, doesn't mean
I can't get inspired.
I'm not difficult,
you just need to loosen your grip.

very engaging, like your addressing a certain specific person, I suppose the sterotyper. very easy to read the way the Budwieser ad talks about drinkability. I'm against any author's note that explain the poem i think if you feel compelled to do it, it probably should be in the poem.

This is very good. =] I read the first Gossip Girl book; it was okay, I guess. I'm glad you read it since it inspired what I think is the strongest part of this poem.

I guess this is about how a lot of people make wrongful assumptions about others based on what they see,not what they know
