Oh, look! Look Mommee! Great big words!
Ones some people won't have heard!

Mommee, won't you buy me some

So I can show how smart I am ?

 

 Obfuscate! Articulate!

See how they rhyme ! I just can't wait

to write them down for all to see -

the folks will think it's poetry!

 

And o'er their eyes I'll pull the wool

(They'll think I'm intellectual!)

I'll talk about philosophy

so they'll all be impressed with me.

 

Oh, Mommee don't serve food to me

I'd rather eat a diction'ree

 so every time I have a shite

I'll have more stuff with which to write.

    hi wind,
    I read you loud and clear with this one,i`m also quite confident i know where you got the inspiration to write it as i have read your brutally honest but very refreshing comments on a poem written by Enoq that i have forgot the name of,i get two messages from this poem,one is the use of obfuscating words within a poem that are out of context,forced and pretentious,the other is the fact that a huge majority of comments on here are too sycophantic.
    Great poem,i really liked it

      Apt use of an 'unusual' word

      Hi Rhet. This is indeed a swipe at Enoq and all who believe that because something rhymes it is poetic. Pathetic more like in the VAST majority of cases I've observed. This coupled with a meaningless wordiness for its own sake that is a particular kind of idiocy. The final straw was his response to specific technical points with vague allusions to nothing in particular and his assertions that my criticism could only be born out of some sort of random personal vindictiveness, a typical response from the new generation here at Sharepo who treat it like a chat room more than a poetry forum. 'Sycophantic', unlike most of the 'unusual' words dear Enoq used, is completely apt here. Thanks for the comment. >W<

    Felicitations Windhover, in this the Winter of our malcontent.
    Life is far from lachrymose with you about, mate. Your quaternary quatrains were quite efficacious I deemed - well worth masticating over. And I render wholehearted approbation to the asperity of your vituperations - an epicedium for surfeit periphrasis if ever I saw one.
    Another successful parturition in the concatenation of thy cogent melopoeias and well worth a pecunary inducement I´m sure if served to a fitting periodical.

      Ah gG, how the hell are ya? The unenlightened might think the author of this barbed little satire and that of the above comment would have little to say to one another. But then, the unenlightened would not appreciate the difference between pretentious abuse of the language and the joyous celebration of it that you so easily and effectively appropriate!         Truth be told I cheated and fished a few of these words from thesaurus and dictionary and I knew you´d get the humour.
        But that said the compliments within are utterly sincere!

    I know what you mean, this is how most of my classmates write poetry, they think it's sooo good becuase it RHYMES and you can't understand it unless you're a dictionary, I guess it makes them really intelligent, I mean who wouldn't want to read a poem with fluff and fillers and big words! WOW I mean who wouldn't be IMPRESSED at a thing like that

    I've produced some good work when something draws my ire. I like the concept poetry should be challanged and shouldn't always be polite.
