Children of Sudan

The desert winds are raging
in the country of Sudan
All the people racing
for a life that won't stay long

Never mind the gunshots
Never mind the dead
for now all my hopes lay on
the hearts weighed down by lead

I try to mend their sorrow
heal their broken hearts
but how can I patch up a world
that has all but fell apart?

May luck be with the living
and peace be with the dead
For I will try to speak their words
that have been left unsaid

My hands lie with the wounded
my shoulder lies with the lost
but my heart lies with the children
that pulled through this holocaust

No matter what we've been through
No matter how vile
It truly is fulfilling
To see some children smile.

Wow. Just...wow. I'm at a loss for words. Your writing is just so brilliant, they have yet to make up a word to describe it. I'm thinking "emotawesome" Emotional and awesome. Oh yeah.

    Excellent

This is beautiful, compassionate and really speaks to your ability to understand humanity. There really is value in the lives of all people. Sudan is such an overwhelming tragedy it pains me. Complacency of nations is so devastaing.

Greatly insightful and compassionate poem AC.

    well done
