Poem for the Saturdays

You understand,
In that way that you have
That’s so confusing and wonderful
In that way that you are like me
But different.
I can almost not describe it
The words run away like so many mice.
I don’t know how to describe
The way that you are always here
With me.
I guess I can’t think of a way to tell you
How much you mean to me,
It’s not something you tell people often enough
Which makes it harder
To say.
Not that this is hard to say
Its finding the way to make it poetic,
Or maybe the most poetic thing
Is abandoning poeticness
And saying out plain
You are my hero,
You are my friend.
I cant began to describe
How much I need you
You support me and all I can hope
Is that I support you just a tiny bit as much.
You are wonderful,
So funny, quick to say
Words that would’ve taken ages
To trip out of my mouth.
That’s why I am writing this, rather than saying it
To your face the way I should
It loses the awkwardness in a poem
To tell someone how much you love them.

Author notes

For my great friend, Mar. Or Saturday Marred. It's rather cliched, but how else can I say it?
A response to Mar's wonderful poem. Thank you, Mar.

I don't give good advice. At all.
I love the rhythm and the way it just flows. With every line I feel your appreciativeness (is that even a word) for Mar. Your words can say a lot!

      Thanks, Hawk,
I'm glad you liked it. I think appreciativeness is a word. Word's are a poets greatest tool. Thanks for the read and you don't give bad advice. You give honest feedback which is all that matters.
