I Hate Love Songs

Why?
Why do we listen
to those idiotic
verses about how
our heart flutters

I hate those
stupid
twisted
pop
songs
that make us feel 'in love'

What's falling in love anyways?
Sleeping with your boyfriend
On prom night in some
sleezy hotel room?

It's like trying
to be a psychiatrist
but you need
a psychiatrist yourself.

So I motion
that we make
hate songs

Miss O'Malley - I share the feeling about the saccharine elevator pop that makes every love affair just a different flavored lollipop. This moves well, has a good rhythm. One point where that rhythm is interrupted is with "anyways" - the next line starts with an "s" so you could lose the "s" on "anyways" and improve the rhythm. You also might want to think about changing "motion" to "move." The other thing that would flesh this piece out is to draw some examples of "hate songs" that would parallel and contradict pop songs that have "idiotic verses about how our hearts flutter." The ending here leaves the reader hanging. Cheers, MJ

I don't know it's like.. ok I'm 19 so I'm used to being around the stereotypes of high school and if you walked into any group of self-concious teenagers you would get the same reaction. I've just heard the rant before

don't be sorry. i'm not gonna get mad at you or anything. if that's what you think, then tell me. and as to how everyone else feels, i don't know. i mean, i got the picture that everyone else was the exact opposite of this. just dying to hear the next icky love poem/song. what do you think?

    hey Ms. O

a nice refreshing dose of sarcasm here. love songs are sentimental and sappy. i've noticed all the songs on the radio are about falling in love or breaking up. this was enjoyable, thought you could have made it longer.

sarcasm is like my best friend! and not only songs, but i was looking at all the new poems, and every one of them were love songs. these people don't even know what love is half the time. and yeah, i might consider making it longer.

It's an interesting piece.I like the realistic feeling in it .And yes you're right about idiotic love songs that make us hope, day dream that one day we'll find our soul mate. That's why my favorite band is Him .Their songs are sad, dark and different .Instead of hate songs ,we could simply sing to real life love ,not to some sort of fairytale romance .
