I want to hit
a bucket of golf balls
hit them at midnight
off the front lawn
over the oak trees
into the stars
out towards the road
no one drives home
I want to follow
fighting the forest
give up the honor
beg for relief
pray against demons
swing at myself
put up a trophy
on the top shelf
I want to hurt
until I can heal
summon all sources
never revealed
face off the dark
follow the flight
of any ball hit
into tonight

pray against demons?
maybe the praying
will help
maybe it won t
what will likely help most
is to get really angry
if you haven t already
i ve found that anger
if used in constructive ways
can be very empowering
maybe you could write it out
in a place no one can see
not sharing it with anyone
while the pain is fresh
----
most of all
maybe you can escape for a while
there s nothing like
the constant reminder
of someone who hurt you
to make the hurt last
all the longer
----
i hope you do heal
i hope we both do
----
then again
this was from january
so chances are
you re already better
at least i hope so -
Good
I really liked this poem. I found myself edging closer to my computer screen as I read the words.
my favorite part:
"I want to hurt
until I can heal"
good job.
Power to the pen,
-Jas.
