The Only War Worth Winning

The Coffin People
take backward strides
in pursuit
of the largest funeral
as The People Still
plant wooden flowers
with fingers
like an infertile rose

I cry as I spy
The Coffing People
walking by
I spy and I cry
the coffin souls
left to die

The married few
take forward steps
in pursuit
of the greatest wedding
as The People Still
plant wooden flowers
with fingers
like an infertile rose

I smile as I spy
the married person
walking inside
I spy and I smile
the married soul
that can be mine

and yours

    hey rhet

a little crytic and at the risk of looking foolish were you saying that marriage is in a sense like dying. i wouldn't disagree.

thank dave,i dont go for cryptic normally so i`ll try to explain it..its basically about the marriage of the mind with the soul, the "funeral people"(societies decision makers for politicians, banks, religions, etc etc) have doomed souls, the "people still"(the rat race, followers, ignorant etc etc )have souls that are stuck but the "married few" are in a mind/soul relationship, their souls will flourish...i`m never writing a poem like this again,it took me feckin` hours..been reading Plato recently,he`s messed me up,i`ll get back to stuff less taxing for both the reader and myself very soon

      cheers

Dark, but good. It took me a while to understand it too, but I think I like it. Very interesting, and really makes you think, like alot of your poems. Nice!
