inevitable {your.last.first.kiss}
The hands of time could never move again,
Or withdraw completely from the fabric of life,
Pulled from existence as the day moves on,
Correcting our lives as we grow old together.
Everyone always said we fit together like a puzzle,
In perfect, everlasting harmony,
as everyone around us
seemed to only connect the wrong pieces with themselves.
We were born into this world, 507 days apart,
And yet our spirits are connected,
As if the synchronized beating of our two hearts
Eased the search for the other, now pulsing together forevermore.
And once upon a time, when we were just kids,
You held me without knowing that my heart was beating our rhythm,
And I traced the outline of your lips with my fingertips,
Knowing that they were mine, for the rest of our lives.
We never were the epitome of love,
Yet we tried and tried again,
Until my heart could beat with no one else,
Until time and existence paused to let our love surpass its lifetime.
And in that moment, I swear, we were infinite
We were inalterable, inevitable,
Your wings painted across the sky of my heart,
My heart kissed by the warmth of your arms.
Hold me and tell me we’ll burn like stars,
We’ll burn as we fall.
Watch as city lights burn for us.
Watch as time waits for us.
