Grazed by the shadows of twilight
where day lies dying in the heat
beauty takes off her clothes
lies down on the sand to sleep
pelicans diving gracefully
fish plunging deep and quick
the sky darkens and fades
into a purple hazed night
beauty wakes at midnight
twirls swirls
into her twinkling eyes
racing in a moody sky
like an elliptic arc
across the moon
curving back to earth
brandishing a star she unhooked
from the tip of a quarter-moon
all the while her latest lover
hangs above her
