Life happens slowly
when you’re going this fast
as if its intensity
is trying to last
a little longer
senses distilled
to glorious tunnel-vision
captivating freedom
from thought
and indecision
reflexes
stronger
it never burns more bright
than when it might
just be
extinguished
tasting more sweet
with every breath
like hunger
life is not the absence of death
it is the fear of that impostor
relinquished.

a touch of class!
i love this! I think the comparison to a car is obvious but nevertheless carries it well - with the right choice of words and you've done this well here, and the right pauses makes it flow well.
i assume this is inspired by your recent activity (LOL) but it speaks generally the truth about life.
Loved the ideas: senses distilled, burning brighter when just about to get extinguished, life as fear relinquished....
but...why 'impostor'? or who?
welcome back!

Pole position
Thanks Lynne , looks like you picked up all the points except the one you asked about. The impostor is Death of course and you'd got the main thought about him anyway. Top of the grid ! Glad you liked it.

Nice metaphor for life . A car !!! Truly a piece of a genius ! I quite liked the idea very much and also loved the ending. But the title could be something more catchy ? Or maybe its just me ? Anyways good write and keep writing .
