when it comes to commenting, how come I get WAY more comments on allpoetry?
I havn't got ANY on my latest sharepoetry poem and LOADS on my latest allpoetry poem! -
have you actually ever gotten a single constructive comment on allpoetry? I get twice as many comments there, but infintely less helpful ones. If you judge the website by the volume of comments you get, then you’re an idiot.
Incidently, you’ve posted two poems and three comments; of course you haven’t gotten any yet.

exactly, it's quality not quantity
Though different people need different encouragment
If you like ppl just saying 'hey, sweet', then AP. If you like to focus on critical feedback, sharepoetry ideally is the best.
Keep the good critiques rolling!

give more, receive more?
You’ve only posted four comments yourself on SP, two of which are on your own piece.
Maybe if you got into the community and circulated more you might get more in return.I don’t think Sharepoetry is better than allpoetry, it is different, it gives the poster a chance to get a critical review rather than a simple comment.

Quality, not quantity.
This is not a place to get the ego patted. We are here to learn, and at times also to help others learn.Terry

Ironically that’s what Allpoetry originally was intended for. Now it’s just a place to hang your hat. Well, not my hat.
-

I am the ONLY person who commented on your piece here, ‘The Conductor.’ But you haven’t responded. Of course people won’t bother… if you don’t. Maybe you’re ah, on vacation
-
I’m please with sharpoetry… I’ve only had a couple of comments so far (wheras on AP, I usually get about 10 from favourites alone on each new piece I post) but they’re infinately more constructive and thoughtful. I guess its all about where you want more people to read your piece, or whether you actually want to improve it.

AP
I am also pleased with SP. I shied away from writing forums for so long because they always seemed like places where people came to politely exchange praise, as opposed to actually engaging in actual criticism and discussion.Of course, the forums are what we make them.

I agree
I agree with the others.
Allpoetry is good if you want your poems praised and if you want to read poems.
Sharepoetry is if you want to learn and think you can help others.
Allpoetry has put to much competetion into the poetry, they have points and contests all driving us on to try and get more than others be better than others.
Sharepoetry has removed the major point accumalation system and people are able to ask something of the readers, you canhelp poets here and become one yourself. -
Sharepoetry is the place....
Especially if you want critiques with a bit more edge to them, instead of quick how are you, nice poem responses. What annoyied me the most what allpoetry's chatterbox, you go to ask a question and they all go medievel on you. It gets brutal. -
NO!!
I think allpoetry is better..I understand it more. Plus I have more friends onmm there -
So invite,
If lonely, convince some friends to come here too. Mind you, to get helpful comments, it is more likely if you give first. Don't know much to say? So, ask a question. We are here to learn after all.

I planned to join AP before, but on checking the site i wasn't into it. This site has good feedback. I don't know why, but it seems there are more serious poets in this sites. More than anything, its the costructive criticism that one is after in this site, and if one is bent in doing better at writing SP is the site...

SP is great.
AP seems to be nothing but a mutual glad-handing festival. If I suck, I wanna know it. That's the only way to improve, to have truthful and constructive feedback. I have paid close attention to peoples' feedback, not just to me but to others and feel that I have improved immensely in comparison to where I was when I started. That is what SP is all about, mutual improvement.
That's why I like it.

New borders
Not a reply, really, but what a great idea! When I think of going through a long list of old replies to find the new comment, especially where the thread grows long, it has been hard to spot (by date and time) where they hide.
The temporary dark borders really save time, and at the far end of a long day, much energy.
With thanks!

I think the biggest deal is that people need to venture forth and comment first. When I first joined I was bold enough (actually, stupid, but, hey, whatever ; ) ) to comment on gnosisonG's stuff and it may not have been helpful, but by commenting on someone's poem they're much more apt to contact you and eventually help with yours. It takes giving to get anything back.

Really? is there a commentation virus at allpoetry? I never get any.
-
Well, almost never?
Hey! from a full-size box! I thought that was also a "never." Sometimes we have to wait for it.
"Never" is a relative term when we do not have access to the entire length of Time, but an absolute if even the future is blank.

Double checking
I wondered if I had clicked Reply. Most of my replies have been in boxes smaller than six letters wide, and thus typed elsewhere and pasted in.
Much reassured. Even for me, Reply was a fullsize box! Now, will it last?
Experience breeds pessimism.

Now what else?
I,,,EDit
gave me my own personal four-comma wide box. Typing in it will be a mess.
It was just SLOW. clicked Reply, expressed pleasure at finding a full-size box, clicked Submit, and it vanished.
I am taking a copy of this in case it happens again. From the Why-me? Department,

Another narrow waits.

In reversed order, displaying earlier last.
When I send this up again, where will it be?
That's enough time on it today.
The twit.
