Well I'm not old, at only 16 years, (at least I try to think I'm not) but there's always a couple of songs from my childhood that make me smile when I hear them.
Like, Somewhere over the rainbow. *long sigh*
Anyone have any songs like that? -
The Eagles
Every once and awhile, one of their songs comes on the radio, and I’m thrown back to being an 8 year old boy dancing in my parent’s living room… -
The Beatles, Elvis, Little Richard
I prefer old music to the music of today. I may only be 16 but i’m realy big into music from the 50s and early 60s. I love the early Beatles and Elvis, little Richard, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, The platters, anbd even the Stray cats. I suppose I think that these performers had more talent than most popular musicians today. plus, I kind of grew up around some of it, when you live in the south with grandparents you can’t help but grow up with Elvis.

Ah
I love listening to depressing musicals like Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, etc. My problems tend to pale compared to theirs and it really cheers me up!
I’m only in my early 30s but I grew up on ABBA I will sometimes play it just to smile at the remembrance of my mom dancing around to them. Now if I could only WRITE lyrics… that’s be neat

I love the modern day Classical composers from Eastern Europe, such as Arvo Part and Henryk Gorecki. They’ve known misery all their lives, and the spiritual ressurection resulting from that pain shows in their music.

The Cure…Love Song. They are definately old haha!

Old mostly
i love old music and shredder guitar music (being a guitarist its my duty to like shreder) my inspirations are the rolling stones, van halen, and Yngwie J. Malmsteen. hell ya. -
I love the Beatles, and the song “Somewhere over the rainbow”

I grew up listening to Elvis Presley. I’m not that old, but yeah I love that. I’m more into recent stuff though and love Acoustic style music.

Anything from the 80s
I am in this 80s kick right at the moment. I even programmed the local 80s station on my radio so when I feel the mood to rock out I just switch it over. My friends and I have been listen to the Styxs lately…Come Sail Away…what a kick a$$ song….I grew up listening to Metallica, Guns-N-Roses, Def Lepard…etc…even though I was born in the mid 80s…Thanks to a rockin mama I was introduce to the rock world early. -
I basically end up liking anything that I’ve heard more than 10 times, with a few exceptions. Since my parents used to only listen to old music, I like a lot of those things. I really like The Eagles. Their music has this strange effect on me…

I grew up in the 60's so anything in that era is great, also love John Denver, country, folk and some classical.
-
I like the Beatles. ABBA, which was metioned above, is good to, but I don't like them as everyday music.

Flame Trees by Cold Chisel
My dad ued to play it all the time when I was little and now we both play it all the time. It's gonna rip my heart out when I hear it after I move out, which is in like a month. -
The Temptaions
All i have to say is Lean On Me -
Frank Sinatra
My dad loves anything and everything by Frank Sinatra, so I grew up listening to him. And now, whenever I hear one of his songs, I still feel like getting up and dancing. =) -
Eh...there's some 50s stuff that's good: Elvis, Buddy Holly and the like. I'm pretty much stuck in the 60s with my music taste. I could list and list and list great bands from the 60s, but everyone would just fall asleep. Not that I don't listen to anything modern, it's just there's so much I listen to that isn't.
