Hey guys!!! Attention all poets. Guess what? You must be pleasant and nice at all times on this page or “YOUR MEMBERSHIP WILL BE BANNED.‿
I guess it has to do with the time we live in. It is such a peaceful calm centered time in history. How dare I even THINK any negative thoughts these days. People are not ready to speak for them selves. This utopic-Eden we call home has softened us. It must have been so traumatic for the people involved in the “punctuation‿ forum to carry on a discussion. Imagine…adults discussing what they passionately believe to be the function of art (form vs. content vs. BOTH) without smiling brightly. THAT IS JUST PLAIN WRONG!!!!
I would warn people not to go to that thread….it is very…um, violent. You may never get those horrible words out of your mind.
I truly hope no one was actually offended….heated, yes….we were each really fighting for poetry….all sides/views/opinions…. I thought the truth was that we all cared about the same thing…that is why it is all so funny to me...it's like we are on some daytime talk/court show fighting other hos and playas for our man...isn’t that what we are supposed to do here, really?
Well, in sum, a word for the wise- only discuss issues with each other through IMs….don’t air the dirty laundry b/c the SP secret police are going to make you disappear

As explained in the IM I sent you.
No subject has been censored.
The thread was locked due to personal insults, this is not accepted here or in any of the other sites associated with this one.Andrew

True he did!

I love it when they lock threads that are insulting don’t you? Outside topic posting is fine; I guess they just wanted it moved.

I think what he wanted was to ensure that a ‘conversation’ on the function of punctuation in poetry did not get any more out of hand than it allready had.
Really! We’re talking pucntuation! I don’t think there is any need to get all up in arms over this or the fact the topic was locked. I repeat locked, not deleted, not forbidden for further discussion, just locked so folks could take a step back,a deep breath, and perhaps approach it in another way.
I am personnally always pleased to see passion in a conversation, but there is a fine line…......you all know the rest.

Trust me, locked is the same thing as deleted, it’s just with a locked thread you can see what’s going on.
If they started a new thread on the same subject after their “breather” as you put it, it’d either get locked or deleted right after it was put up and then the person who posted it would get a warning not to do it again and blah blah blah ..
So, there’s no continuation of conversation unless they do it privately and even IM’s aren’t so private.
Just statin’ fact.

Periods! Commas! Waa!
How the fuck do you get into a passionate argument about punctuation anyway, for Christ’s sake? -

by speaking to people who think they are teachers. they may have the education, they may have the piece of paper that says they are but if while they are ‘teaching’ they are thinking condescending thoughts—I feel they are just, well, idiots and they aren’t teaching nothing but empty callousness.
but that’s my opinion and solely rests in my paws.

Yes, Nam, I agree. I understand that you are not suggesting that all teachers are condescending. Although I know a few who are. I also know some condescending peole in other occupations. They are not really teachers. Teachers teach. These patronising ones are there for the money and the glory. [I wanted to swear in that, but I am not game enough!] You sound like you met a few of these so called teachers.
However, we come to SharePoetry to learn from each other. Sometimes we put on the student hat amd sometimes the teacher hat [and try our best to support others]. Cruel to be kind, a little, and sometimes incorrect. It's better than some of the condecending counselling I read on AP, this, here, is more about Poetry.
