Anyone else worried about the hurricane?

    Ah… my day started out okay, but Hurricane Rita is heading straight for where a person I love very much lives. Grawr. And they aren’t evacuating, so I’m pretty scared. Hah.

    Anyone else know people that are going to be affected by Rita?

    I know a lot of people.

    And they’re all living in the same town as me, 3 states away from louisiana. Everyone is affected by the hurricane. What they need to do about new orleans is fix the levees for good, get a waterpump system in place to pump water out in the event of future flooding, and establish wetland nature reserves arund that area instead of having more urban development. One of the reasons there was so much water is because the swamps and wetlands are being destroyed so the water didn’t have anywhere to go.

    oh forgot

    I live in northeast kansas, right by the kansas river. Trains shipping goods to everyone from boat shipments off the mississippi river that come from the new orleans port, the main seaport for the whole of the midwest go through the city I live in. There have been a decidedly scant number of trains coming through.
