For the third day in a row I tried to read and to post items in sharepoetry and found it difficult indeed.
Only the topic box appeared, no box for comment.
and even that disappeared. I could not see the link to my page--or any of the choices on the top bar, yet when I clicked where it used to be, it opened. Not one to give up without struggle, I tried to reply again, this time finding the box at the bottom of a long scroll, wrote my comment, but it did not post. Logged out through the non-existent My page logout... again. Told you it was weird.

That was all on my MS Windows xp machine, just now.
Shifted to Linux, and everything is beautiful, as if nothing had ever been wrong. The pale blue text that kills my eyes in Windows is dark and clear in Linux.
Guess which machine I'll use in AP-SP...for a while...
    until it goes blah.

And here I have bought another computer because Linux was giving me all kinds of trouble in AP?
    Ve-e-ery peculiar.

Oh, YES, what I tried earlier to post?
It won't PASTE here, even with Linux! Try again...

    That’s ‘advanced placement’, right?
    didn’t

And I am teaching a Punctuation and Usage class in AP?
Or do I have to be reading it on one of my two computers to see the garbled apostrophe and quotation marks?
Maybe it's the midnight hour? Goodnight all!
    Terry

    PS
From the scrolled bottom of the forum space, added to this entry" pasted by my Windows xp machine:

"one judge's verdict 4 syllables. Plural, two judges' verdicts 4 syllables."

here it does not stroke out the words either, but shows them crossed out in both Linux and Microsoft in my own AP. I must hope that Fae is wondering why I sent her a second IM telling her I had not stroked out those words.

What a huge waste of time these bugs ARE!

    This should be fixed

The top logo was scaling wrong for IE for a day, sorry about that. I’d attempted to make it smaller, but internet explorer didn’t listen and made it bigger instead!

I need to make a point of testing on windows more frequently, sorry.

The strikeouts and funny characters have been extremely frustrating, and I am sorry that they continue to plague the site. They stem from the rich-text support we have to add bold, etc. I will be disabling the one we’re using and adding my own fairly soon. Sorry for the trouble!

      Whew!

Thank you, Kevin! I am here with Linux again after the midnight hour, hoping to sidestep the nonsense that seems to strike after the clock has had its turn.

May I speak on behalf of a sense of humor? It moderates.
It lends patience. It gets a number of other unrelated chores done, maintains peace in the family, and leads to the contemplation of the futility of best-laid plans.

Seriously, it is most reassuring that something can be done to ameliorate these tedious bugs, and will be very greatly appreciated!

      a mind of its own.

elfynn, sometimes after a while, problems clear themselves, --or seem to. I know how frustrating it can be to be defeated by a stupid machine. I started to compose anything longer than a few words on Notepad, and sending a copy to avoid losing an hour of work. Delete only after being sure it went to the right place.

If it keeps on acting up, it could be your own computer too. When mine got horrid I switched from Windows xp to my Linux machine and there was no problem at all.

If your problem continues and no help comes, maybe no one saw the posting. Start a new thread to put yours up top.
      Good luck!

Yup, nothing much can happen to Old-tech Notepad short of power-outage in the community! With a notepad computer, I even have that one covered.
      It has a battery.
Paste-send takes little time, and if it fails, it wasn't lost. Puts new value in what we write!
