I'm a jazz musician in Texas. I was just wondering if anyone else here plays, or even just takes a fond interest in jazz. Intermingling the arts has always fascinated me.

Clarinetist
I play the clarinet, and love jazz music. However, my band director does not allow clarinets to be in his jazz band.
P.S. - This is not because the clarinet section is terrible. Out of the five people who can actually read and play well, two of them are clarinetists. Myself being one, no boast. I play on a Vandoren 5, am in an orchestra, and I am only a sophmore.
Most music is fun to play, unless it's extremely boring. I like anything with a lot of runs, good syncopation, or a good melody behind it. I'd be happy to talk about any experience you have in jazz or with any other music in general.
Were you ever in a marching band? Excellent topic if you were.
Hope you can return my comment and we can talk a bit about music, and hopefully, I won't let my pet peeve with my conductor eat up too much time. He is a nice guy, whether or not he thinks clarinets can play jazz music in a group.
Sincerely,
