I dont see any contest or anything....no trophies on any page, or profile?? contests are the most exciting....
and groups and columns??? -
Contests are for Allpoetry.
The only way a contest would work would be for all entrants to be anonymous until after the judging is complete, and all judging be done by polling of the poetic populace in democratic fashion. Since we hope to address humanity in general, we must be judged by mob rule, not by some fruit looking to feel up his friends with fancy trophys as window-dressing for empty ego-nests. Yaaaaahhh, I got a trophyyyyyyy!
Allpoetry is fey. Please don't bring it here...please? At least not as it exists now. The winners there are often simply participants in a reciprocal glad-handing festival where it is a feeble battle for ill-gotten praises such as "Oh...this is awesome!!!" x a bazillion. Very much not exciting to me. Course, that's just me talking.

Contests on Allpoetry are currently anonymous. The host cannot see the entrants name, and most do not comment on the poem until they are ready to judge. If they comment before, they ask that people do not reply back so they can see who it is. Other's go further and ask that the poet ask others not to use their name in comments, so the host has no idea who entered.
Gold site members have the option of making the contest non-anonymous if they wish, which some do for specific reasons, such as 'one poem per person' or 'no prewrites'(poems previously posted on the site).
As in any contest, some hosts do cheat, while others give the trophies to their friends. The other entrants soon learn to never enter a contest from that host again. -

Thank you, Barbara.
I simply have yet to see an anonymous contest as it seems many prefer to rest on their past laurels and the mandated glad-handings beholden to such.
Thank you, Barbara for your fine explication of matters but again. You are an invaluable resource in the dispelling of misconceptions and unsubstantiated prejudice. In other words, thank you for setting me straight.
Always a pleasure,

I checked for the contests on here, and they are also anonymous.
I can't recall ever seeing a contest on Sharepoetry though.

Sharepoetry tries to stay away from the 'feel' of Allpoetry and Storywrite. The main goal here is to get honest(sometimes brutal) in-depth feedback on poetry.
You can add contests and columns from the add a poem page, but there may not be many genuine entrants. A lot of people visit here to get away from the community atmosphere that is Allpoetry.
If groups are added, then it would become another Allpoetry, and why have two of the same site?
