i love to draw pictures of people ,to make them look real is always my goal.sometimes i run into confilct,
making someone look tired or old is more difficult to me ,and suggestions on shading? -
I can’t draw worth shit. But I felt that since you’re topic’s been here since August that it should have at least a reply.
My grandmother used to draw. She left behind this book that is all drawings of people, old, young, man, woman, boy, girl. Mostly nude (no children nude) but it’s all done in charcoal. My grandmother and great-grandmother (I guess that’s where my grandmother learned it from since the book is actually published ‘round the ‘30s and not ‘50s, so I am guessing that it was originally my great-grandmother’s book passed down to her) both drew in charcoal. I am sure they drew in other methods but their charcoal drawings always seemed to hold a particular shade to them.
That’s all I can ‘suggest’ on my end.

Realistic is for photos
I think good art tries to find the "essence" of someone, and distort that fact to make an interesting picture. Caractures are an interesting simplistic example, but the same is true for "art", I think.Otherwise, find an art group near you to work with, they'll have opinions! We'll be launching an art feedback site sometime in the next several months also (artreply.com)

This sounds like a great idea!
We have talented people here whose visual expressions—realistic and not—including electronic manipulations, are worthy of wider display.Visual arts was also one of my interests most of my life, to the extent that I have four certificates from a top college of art and taught it at all levels (grade school, high, teaching teachers, adult-ed off and on over the years. One piece was awarded a prize at an invitational juried exhibition with over a thousand entries. A hundred were selected. Lack of time diverted that interest, which has to a large extent, gone fallow.
Story of my life: once I knew I could, I went on to other things, teaching, writing, family…
How many others are there out there who just fizzle? So let's do something about that!

well, besides i love write a poem, i love to draw too, I usually draw pictures of people.. eventhough i like to draw pictures of animals too… but draw pictures of people make me feel satisfied, cause i feel comfort and enjoy when i draw it… and sometimes its depend of my mood… i will leave it, i mean, i won't continue to draw if im in bad mood… hehehe… but shoot, if im in good mood, i can finish it in a couple of minutes… (do you believe that?..) hehehe…
