  • This will be updated with the winner of the top commentor of the day nightly award.
  • We're upgrading to a larger server, so will be down for awhile. Sorry for the poetry interruption!

We've been very happy with sharepoetry's growth lately, great job everyone!

  • Welcome to the new and improved sharepoetry! We have a lot of upgrades, including both a great new look and a host of new features. One big change is that each membership now gives you access to more features like rich text editing, etc, rather than memberships simply being a hold-more-poems at once upgrade.

Please IM Kevin if you find any bugs or have any reccomendations. Thanks for being a member of sharepoetry!

Update: comments look a bit strange right now when adding, but are really ok if you refresh the page. We hope to have this fixed soon! We're also considering allowing free members access to a few more features as well.
  • We've been very happy with sharepoetry's success - quite a few of you are joining the fray with a zeal for making great comments, thank you!

Updates have been slow lately as we've been working on upgrading allpoetry; once that is finished, expect some nice optimizations!
  • We've changed the rich editing for poems so you can toggle a MS Word like interface. With this change, problems with quotes and other oddness should be a thing of the past. The top navigation is cleaner, and the links along the upper right now have the heading 'local navigation'. Thanks for being a sharepoetry member! Please comment on the boards, or email me at kevin at sharepoetry.com with comments, questions, or problems.
  • Sharepoetry believes that poetry is about expression. We put as few limits on this as possible. We’re dedicated to staying as unmoderated as possible.
  • You should notice:
    1) It’s faster
    2) black text instead of grey
    3) narrower poem views, easier to read
    4) forum updated to show who made the last post
    5) Featured box on the side, like at allpoetry (instead of at bottom)
    6) Guilds have been disabled for now. They weren’t right for the current site.

Coming soon: Different rich text formatting (will fix the quote problems). Thanks for sharing at sharepoetry!

  • For the last day, some users have been having trouble adding poems and a few other things. This is now fixed – sorry for the interruption in your sharepoetry experience!
  • Congratulations to the members of sharepoetry – we’ve reached seven thousand comments already in our short time online! That’s over two comments per poem on average (there are 3200 poems posted).

We hope you’re enjoying the focus on critical feedback, and improving your poetry through our community. Thanks for your support!

  • To show our appreciation of sharepoetry members, everything in the store (yes, including points) is 30% off. Enjoy the site, hopefully with a new, fancy GOLD membership, or some extra points!

Know a friend who is interested in some serious critiques? Now’s the time!

  • Sharepoetry continues to improve, with support for users, fixes througout the site, and lots of great critiques. Thanks for being a part of the community!

The free member every day with the most comments will be awarded with a free 1 week gold membership! The race is shown on the front page (all members listed, not just the free ones).

Comments make the world go around! Now our most active free members will be able to earn their way to being a GOLD member for free!

  • A bug over the last week has caused the ‘poems with rewards’ to not change as it should. Accordingly, the poems that were lucky enough to be on that list recieve roughly 20 excellent comments each. This has now been fixed!

If you were upset with the comment response thus far, please give us another chance. Overall sharepoetry has been a great success, and I’m excited about it’s future.

  • The guild system is sharepoetry’s method of classes to make learning more about poetry a fun peer support system.

You advance in rank in a ‘guild’ by taking challenges that test your knowledge of poetry in that area. If you know much about an area, or are willing to spend some time on google figuring it out, can you help add challenges?

  • This site seeks to address a major shortcoming of allpoetry: Some people do not want to give or recieve critical reviews.

But the poets that do, really want them! The solution is sharepoetry – a poetry community dedicated to the mature poet. Read on for tips on adjusting to this site

  • When you first start writing, you need encouragment.

To become a better poet, you need more than that: you need critical reviews from people who aren’t just going to pat you on your back, but give you detailed feedback about their personal response to the poem and areas they thought needed work.
