Facilitating feedback
- Grades are okay: We encourage grades on different areas of a poem on a simple 1-5 scale. These are for the poet, rather than any of site-wide rating system.
- All poems are shown with line numbers while commenting, to help with feedback.
- A focus on active poems. Most memberships have limitations on how many poems can be active. Others can be easily moved to the archive.
Poets asking questions
One of the most important things about critiquing poetry is knowing what to look for. Just having a poem thrust in your face makes it difficult to know what to say. All poems at sharepoetry are submitted with a request by the author of what to focus your critique on.The other aspect of this is browsing by questions. Feel like helping someone with their rhyming? Choose 'Rewards' along the top of the page, then 'Questions' along the right navigation to browse questions authors have.
Points and Rewards
Some people have more time to spend critiquing, and they deserve to be read more in return. Our solution:
- You get two points for each critique you leave.
- Use these points to add a 'reward' on your poem to double the points users get for critiquing it.
- For example: John has accumulated 16 points, so clicks 'rewards', then 'add a reward'. The current cost is 2, so he rewards the next 8 comments on his latest poem.
- Rewards are shown at the bottom of most pages, on the front page, and in their own section, 'poetry' at the top of the page.
You can make a difference at sharepoetry
Every poem you read has an author behind it that wants to hear your opinion.Critiquing is the basis for improvement in poetry, and editing poems after they're written is the mark of a professional poet.
