Arrows

Missing image
He loves words
words of love especially
for some words have weight
beyond mere meaning
they short
cut
straight
to feeling

such words can be weapons
or balm-
call us to bed
or to war
calm us
or stir us
they are

us

the poet scrabbles
in the ether
seaching for such pearls

arrows

to aim
at the heart
of what matters
he batters at the gates of Heaven
with their feathers

There's a fancy word for building up an anticipation and then just dropping it like that. But I don't know what it's called. It's supposed to suggest that something as insubstantial as feathers (words )can batter down the gates of Heaven. There are feathers on arrows so it's kind of poetic - I think- maybe.
