Rhyme of the Ancient Powerthingy

Missing image
Listen to the song I sing thee
From the chatterbox I bring thee
news and views about a muse
oh - and a little 'powerthingy'

Wizened bird sat on a wire
A poem to write his heart's desire
Two steadfast collaborators
Bringing drink like worthy waiters

Milligan was first to write
but was dismayed to find that night
She had a thought for us to pen
But nowhere she could plug it in!

Silver Spectre did her best
To join in as she got undressed
To go to bed in her pyjamas
One old bird - and two hot mamas!

" 'POWERTHINGY' we'll entitle
this small ode we mean to write
I'll wager we can get it done
before she has her jammies on"

So the Windyhover boasted
Glasses clinked, the plan was toasted
And the three sat down to write
What should have been some awful poetry

(I was going to say sh*** but they won't let you swear on the chatterbox. What the f*** is that about? Anyway...)

Milligan it was, suggested
That a webcam should be tested
In the Silver Spectre's lair
Wherein she keeps one 'Teddy Bare'

Teddy Bare can oft be finded
Pink of hue and hairy-minded
Helping out with that and this
Windhoverman's neme-sis.

The caped collaborator's plans
Could be delivered to our hands
If only on her bedroom wall
A digicam we could instal

We could bring our plan to 'bear'
(and see Spec in her underwear!)
Alas! What awful news she brings me!
She can't find her powerthingy!

Things were getting pretty hot
With all three typing we knew not
If it was farce or it was sin
To seek a place to 'plug it in'

And so it went from verse to verse
This poem we wrote but didn't rehearse
If you can understand it, ring me
On my little tele-thingy

Author notes

    Sounds like a great night........

....and nice to see that even banter and frivolity can bear fruit! It brings a whole new meaning to SharePoetry and maybe you've just started a trend for team collaborations? Now, given a common theme and a line limit, that would make a whole lot of fun to work on and a nice little bit of competitive contest for contributors!

    Cheers,

    Mart

    WHO was getting WHO drunk?

I will always love this. I have so much fun during the SP Happy Hours and I'm glad it's been immortalized. (Silver, if you feel your reputation is besmirched, don't worry, I shall defend your honor as a fellow poet and friend!! - but you have to admit, it's one of the best things about the poem!)

WH - you really do make it look easy to write, the way this rolls right out of you!! You may think it's just nonsense, but it's the most well written nonsense I've ever read!

See you guys at the bar!!!

    Bravo!

I love the fact that I can read this and remember those very odd nights in the Bar! You'll have my reputation in ruins!

About time ...ladies and gentlemen PLEASE!

At long last this literary masterpiece gets the recognition it doesn't deserve! And yes, I can see you'd need reminding of those nights the way you hit those cocktails! Oh and as for having your reputation in ruins ....absolutely! Just give me half a chance. you are my nemisis after all! It's no accident your signature pic. is a cat. It plays out of tune by the way. But it has nice teeth! XXX(More damage to your rep!) >W<

An enjoyable read: the flow, humour and competence in general. Good stuff.

      Thank You J ...

(Thank You J Darling would have sounded rather too familiar as we haven't been introduced!) ..for commenting so kindly on my little nonsense rhyme. It was really aimed at a limited audience but I'm gratified it gave you a giggle. Thanks for commenting >W<
