The music swells
My soul lifts
I have nothing but the song I sing
To keep me warm tonight
Years and years have passed me by
Each one, more sorrowful than the last
I pick my song, upon guitar
And croon my mournful tune
No one to love, nothing to give
Except the pleasure of the note
They pass me by, so cold, so stiff
Treading upon my dreams
I dream one day
I will be warm, happy, free and rich
But for now, I sit and sing
Of things better than I deserve
It is my fault, I deserve this
This homelessness, this fault
I gave my life, for love
And lost freedom in the gamble
Music as my only companion
I watch the world pass by
I sing my melody, so sweet
And pine for a future
